Michael Grieve is a photographer, founder/director of Werkstatt: and founder/director of ArtFotoMode. In 1997 he graduated with an MA in Photographic Studies from the University of Westminster and then proceeded to work as a photojournalist and portrait photographer for publications internationally and is a member of Agence VU in Paris. He was the deputy editor of 1000 Words Contemporary Photography Magazine (2010-15) and a writer for the British Journal of Photography (2009-2022). Since 2011 he has been a senior lecturer at Nottingham Trent University, lecturer at the Akademia Fotografii in Warsaw, the University of Art and Design in Berlin, and a lecturer at Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie in Berlin (2018-23). In 2016 he founded ArtFotoMode, organising international photography workshops. In 2022 he founded Werkstatt: a school of photographic arts, and in 2026 together with Theofanis Dalezios he founded the publishing house Werkstatt: Editions. He continues to work on long term photographic projects. Based in Berlin and Athens.
